What is MicroCart?

MicroCart is a lightweight eCommerce system. Essentially it is a very small shopping cart system written using PHP, JavaScript and MySQL.

How do I use MicroCart?

To install MicroCart, copy its files to a directory on a web server that has a working PHP 5 or better installation. Apache is a good choice as it lets you take advantage of mod_rewrite for clean URLs. Then, create a MySQL database. Finally, point your browser to /_admin/install.php to create the initial tables.

What makes MicroCart different?

Aside from its relatively small size and low complexity compared to other shopping cart scripts, MicroCart sets itself apart by encouraging customization of its source code. You are highly encouraged to modify MicroCart to fit your personal needs, especially considering that in its default state MicroCart is not exactly the most appealing piece of software. If you are looking for an easy "out of the box" solution, then MicroCart may not be for you.

Who is the author of MicroCart?

MicroCart is currently written and maintained by Brian Nez.
